If I may,,, 'Front driven gear/drive shaft' joint. I have serviced many voyagers over the years. At this joint, some still had grease, many did not. In fact some didn't look like they were EVER greased. On those with no grease, they always showed signs of wear and temp tracks. You should never assume.

Yes, there is a hole at the pinion/drive section of the final drive. It is to lubricate that area. It is not considered a vent. O-rings prevent any leakage outside that 'closed' section as long as heat/pressure does not build up forcing oil by those o-rings. The hole (vent) at the top of the final drive back cover allows any pressure buildup to vent and not push oil bast the o-rings.
I have no idea why Kawasaki dicided to stop drilling the vents. Who knows why Kawasaki does some things.

Than what do I know, this is just the rantiing of an old fart. :O)
