Subject: As a Middlesex member I feel it is a waste of time. Game situation was another 5 or 6 overs and Middlesex were safe for a draw, declare and bowl with spinners, get over rate in check and shake hands on draw. If you want to appeal, do it immediately. If the team hadn't spent August onwards collapsing when batting, they would have had the points in the bag to avoid the drop. Looking forward to Canterbury and Arundel (hopefully)

  • As you say, there's a fair chance they wouldn't have a bowled again in the match. And even they had done, they probably would have been slowing things down as much as possible to stop Surrey from knocking off the runs and winning, rather than trying to catch up on the required rate. Also, if they were going to appeal, they should have done so properly at the time, not now, after the end of the season, and after those two points became important. • Disagree that Middlesex would not have batted again. Draw was already odds on and (for a change) two batsmen comfortable. Few more overs to kill off any lingering hope for Surrey then Ollie Rayner bowls constantly from one end. However, I agree that if an appeal is made - immediately. Not after we've effed it up....
