Subject: I don't think the appeal should be upheld. It is unlucky for Mioddlesex, but if they were given back the points, Hampshire might respond that they would have gone for the win on the last day of the season against Noryhamptonshire, rather than batting for a draw. However, some of thr comments above are misleading. Middlesex were 181 ahead with 3 wickets in hand. They were plannign to declare after a fe more overs and rattle through 15-20 overs to get their rate back up to scratch (they had already consulted with the umpires about this). They were unlucky and the original decision to deduct the points in the circumstances was a poor one, but it would be wrong to give the points back now.

  • Oh, and leave Fulham alone. I lived in Fulham as a youngster. Funny how you believe Fulham should be a Premier League club but only draw it's support from a small area. 'Little Fulham' mentality Saunders!!! (NT) -- Beano Reader, Wednesday, October 11, 07:51:45pm (NoHost/46.233.116.166)
  • Is anyone else fascinated by John's occasional ramblings/rantings about which club people *should* support if they live in X, and where people *should* live if they want to support Fulham? Having a go at people on here for the football or cricket teams they support is pretty ridiculous, really. This is the 21st Century, so people frequently move to different parts of the same city, or to different parts of the country or world altogether, and are likely to have friends and relatives living all over the place who might influence them, or drag them along and "recruit" them. It's up to individuals to decide who they support, based on where they live, where they previously lived, or whatever! (NT) -- My Left Foot, Thursday, October 12, 06:06:15pm (NoHost/193.113.48.7)
