Subject: He said during the period when things were going badly that he had a style of playing that was based on possession and passing. If you accept that he had a say in player recruitment then players were bought for that purpose. I accept that we will probably never know what happened in the summer, but my point is that he was wedded to a particular way of playing and refused to change. It seems clear to me that players (especially the expensive ones) were bought to carry on that particular style. The problem was that C'ship sides had worked out how to counter his style ( B'ham away QPR at home) and all the PL clubs did was copy the pressing game that ensure we couldn't get out of our own half. After H'field he tried to be more defensive but he didn't have the players to be effective. If you buy players for their passing ability then don't be surprised if they go missing on a wet mid week at Huddersfield.
