I know he’s a player that has been talked about a lot but I’d just like to throw in my opinion. I don’t buy into,, he’s just lost confidence and was mistreated by ranieri. Hes been poor all season. He lacks a certain amount of swagger, that confidence which borders on arrogance, tough for someone like him who appears a bit of an introvert, I’d just like to see him exude more confidence in himself, which given the number of first team appearances he’s made, he should do now. Sancho, Hudson-odoi, even rashford have an, almost arrogant attitude. Of course not everyone does, eg. Scholes, Messi or Iniesta, but I don’t get that same quiet self-confidence, maybe it will come with time. Hes good at being in the right place at the right time, picks up some assists, but he’s not particularly quick. He very rarely takes a full back on and beats them and doesn’t have a great left foot and often shies away from a tackle (as pointed out by CR), if schurrle had put in the effort he did when defending against West Ham and Chelsea he’d have been slaughtered on here. I get that he’s young and can improve, but he has played a hell of a lot of first team football now and I haven’t seen an upward trend for a while now. I hope he comes again, but I’m just not sure with the assets and deficiencies I’ve seen he’ll ever become a quality premiership player, but of course I’d love to be proved wrong.
