Subject: This isn’t about if you or Troy Deeney like football. He’s been asked by his employer to come in and fulfill his contract on advice from the government and is refusing. He is in the public eye and people will, wether you like it or not, read and change their opinion based on what he says and does. The football industry isn’t just about millionaire footballers, what about the thousands employed on lower wages by clubs who could now be made redundant, the thousands who work for tv and media companies who rely on the industry etc. If things aren’t moving these people doesn’t have a job. Then you think about the stats, 19 cases of something which has such a small of killing you if you’re under 60 with no health issues you may as well not bother going outside if you’re that risk averse. If you have vulnerable then self isolate.
In reply to: Neil G 's message, "Speaking as a father of a young child who has underlying health conditions I can totally understand his argument and why he wouldn't want to take that risk. Football, as important as it is to me, is not THAT important. Also, he is from BAME (unlike many on here) so potentially at even greater risk. I wouldn't take too much of what this government deems an 'acceptable risk' which I am sure many NHS frontline staff and care home workers would agree with." on Wednesday, May 20, 02:47:01pm
