Subject: Harry Wilson / Position

A post lower down commented on Wilson's more disappointing contribution in the last few games.

With the post on Cairney below, it got me thinking on his original v more recently role at Fulham. If I recall correctly, wasn't Cairney's first season at Fulham (plus presumably earlier career at Blackburn + Hull), spent largely on the right side of midfield?

The switch to a more central role lead to him being one of the most high performing Championship players. At the time of our promotion campaign, a good bulk if not a majority were rating him more highly than Grealish.

Looking at Wilsons last few games, it's hard to say he hasn't been pretty ineffectual. He loves to cut inside, and the opposition he generally employed the tactic of making that journey inside as long and as sideways as possible.

What do we think here, is this a player crying out for a more central role, where he can utilise his excellent outside of the box shooting and affect the play more often? Or is this just a form blip in a player more naturally suited to a wide position?
