        • The one protection we have on Voy from the spamming troll is that it discloses IP addresses. The true troll hides behind TOR or VPNs.   • This is likely the real reason why Muniz hasn't been the undisputed no 1. His aerial ability and instinctive finishing are absolutely top-class. But his in-possession (pass accuracy, take-on success, miscontrols, dispossession) and high-press work were not yet at the level of Raul. Marco wants an all-rounder and he hadn't reached that level. But in the games before his injury it looked like he'd finally arrived. Suspect he's No. 1 next season. Time to extend him is now.       • Agreed both have been equally needed to-date. Problem is that Raul over the course of his career has never shown ability off the bench. Since 2014 he has had 111 sub appearances covering 2030 minutes and has scored just 7 goals, only one since moving to the Premier League in 2018. This means it does matter who starts and who finishes. Raul, to be effective, must start. But that hampers Muniz's growth. At some point the balance needs to shift towards the younger man. Said poster started the thread with goal quality, while I have myself referred intermittently to the *variety* of ways he scores (citing even Blackburn and Stoke away as a rookie). But Raul was harder to leave out last season than was anticipated, with productivity approaching his prime period at Wolves. Who foresaw? Great selection problem to have until it needs resolving.             • I think at this stage with Raul no amount of coaching will do it. The twilight of his career. He is what he is. The sheer volume of data is enough to suggest he will always be a player who needs to start to score. Beyond that I struggle to think of a single time when he's come off the bench and changed things in any way. Muniz is the future and we need to ride with him. • It might be that something's "not quite right" and neither player nor club know exactly what, and which lever to pull. If you're not totally committed at work, will more pay solve it - probably not, but it might be part. • Muniz goal contributions should, as with any player, not be measured in appearances but in goals per minute. You can appear in every game but if it’s for 2 minutes per game it equates to 76 minutes. If we look at goals per minute Muniz is leagues ahead so people mentioning his goals per appearances to rate him as a second striker is absurd!   • Yes, that key ratio was great during the patch that earned him Prem Player of the Month, but the sample was agreed too small to be definitive. It was then repeated this past season -- during which, however, Raul's own was in the top ten or so in the EPL and his all-round game had extra virtues. I'm with those who reckon that, for a middling Prem outfit, we were really well served in the position last season. While the stat could mislead as minutes aren't factored in, if you look at his non-goal contribution stats as %age or per/90 he clearly has been inferior to Raul both in possession (passing, holding onto the ball, dribbling) and the press (e.g. tackles, interceptions). That's the key question with him.   • I must have missed the self admission to which you refer; that said, I have stayed out of these exchanges as I find myself very much with The Man with No Name in the sense that posting of provocative remarks seems to have morphed into real obsessions from the Mitrovic/ Head-Choppers stuff onwards.
