Subject: Janet, are you asking who other than the candidates who ran would be pick to be Pres? That's a tough one. >>

Some people won't run because of the ugly smears they and their families have to endure. I can't blame them. I am sure there are many amazing people around who keep a low profile so that we don't hear their names often. The well known people who come to mind are Elizabeth Edwards, Barbara Boxer, Jim Webb, Robert Kennedy,Jr.,Al Gore, and Mario Cuomo.

I can come up with a list of well known - I was wondering who you'd pick based on merits, experience, etc. -- janet, 08:43:59 06/07/08 Sat (r75-110-75-109.gvllcmtc01.gnvlnc.ab.dh.suddenlink.net/75.110.75.109)

[> [> I would love to see someone shut down the Karl Rove smear machine and all the others on both sides so that more people would be encouraged not just to run for office but to vote. I know a lot of people who just don't pay attention to politics anymore because it's gotten so darned ugly. What a shame. I like Joe Biden, too, Judy and hoped that he would be able to make it to the nomination. I would have liked to see him and Obama on a ticket together. -- cyndi, 10:23:43 06/07/08 Sat (216-166-252-217.dsl.peknil.grics.net/216.166.252.217)

[> [> [> Jim Webb of VA fills the bill on that account. He is a tough former marine, a more conservative Dem, and I think he was Sec. of the Navy. His son is serving in Iraq. He would blister the behind of anyone who tried to smear him. -- LB, 10:42:54 06/07/08 Sat (pool-71-252-103-6.washdc.east.verizon.net/71.252.103.6)

[> [> [> [> I have great respect for Webb. He was a Republican and switched parties over this stupid war fought because of lies. He campaigned with his son's combat boots, a Marine serving in Iraq. He has a temper which would be a good asset in Veep because he can play the attack dog role. -- cyndi, 12:04:23 06/07/08 Sat (216-166-252-217.dsl.peknil.grics.net/216.166.252.217)
