[> [> [> [> [> [> [> Sorry, LB for the confusion. It said earlier in this posting that she was a soccer mom. I'm the same age as Palin and I was just trying to point out that she's a hockey mom. It's different. Hockey is expensive and you have to go into those cold ice rinks to practice early and late. They interviewed a local hockey mom for our paper and she was talking about how she drives 200 miles every single day to take her 3 kids to hockey practice and games. And empties/fills up her gas tank every single day. They are also "known" to be tougher than soccer moms. We're more the mini-van type with cute clothes to drop off and pick up in case other moms are there. That's all I meant. -- Susan, 21:16:18 09/14/08 Sun (c-67-175-97-132.hsd1.il.comcast.net/67.175.97.132)

I know it isn't easy being a hockey mom. I know moms who have taken on heroic hardships to support their kids. How does that qualify her for the job? Sorry but I don't want someone like me or like you in the job. I want someone smarter than me. I want someone who can talk tough to Putin or to the Saudis and someone who understands the constitution and judicial law. I want that person who will preside over the Senate when there is a tie to be a brilliant experienced legislator. I want someone who will be a heartbeat away from a 72 year old man with serious health problems to be the best possible person for the job. We had a "nice guy you'd have a beer with" in office for the last 8 years. It was a disaster. Palin is an attractive lady who is no doubt a fabulous and tough mom. Sorry, but that isn't enough for me and I am not alone in that view. McCain could have chosen an extremely well qualified Republican woman from the Senate such as Kay Bailey Hutcheson or Olympia Snowe, both outstanding legislators. Instead he made a totally cynical choice that pandered to the far right wing of the party.

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> I don't necessarily want someone like me either. (Besides I want to know how she really handles the job of mom along with being a politician.) I think there are several things that she believes in, that I don't agree with. And the whole thing about how she can see Russia from Alaska, as they are neighbors. Just on the surface, not even deeply analyzing the situation, I have a hard time imagining how she is being the best mom possible to her kids while governing and/or being a vp. But that's just my view of things and everyone will have different reasons to vote for their candidate. -- Susan, 11:00:11 09/16/08 Tue (c-67-175-97-132.hsd1.il.comcast.net/67.175.97.132)

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> Sorry, got distracted. So...based on what is known as being a hockey mom around here, how could she possibly be a true hockey mom and be a politician, now that they have hockey moms for Palin sweat shirts and all. -- Susan, 11:08:12 09/16/08 Tue (c-67-175-97-132.hsd1.il.comcast.net/67.175.97.132)
