I guess I can see that. I think Holy Cross' elitism is purely academic while Nova is more hoops related (I think Nova and Fordham are relatively similar academically). I don't think many of us are too elitist academically (I would hope not, anyway).

As far as hoops, you have to understand why Nova thinks they are better than certain programs. Just like Duke, UNC and Kentucky think they are better than Nova, we think we are better than programs like Fordham. And you think you are better than certain schools. Thats what being a fan is all about.

I was just was surprised to see Fordham fans root for a program like UNC. As you guys get more compettive and post-season play and better recruiting, you will see that they are the enemy. As long as its the whole Big East you dislike, I don't feel so bad.

  • I think also part of it involves the two schools drawing students from similar high schools/backgrounds etc. As a Chaminade grad, I recall we sent about 20 students to 'Nova and 20 to Fordham from my year, ditto for Fairfield. Some rivalries there. (NT) -- '85, Wed March 30, 2005 14:43:42
