Subject: Feathers again

Here is a feather question again. Shy is still losing feathers a lot. The head filled in where I guess he had pin feathers but he loses several a day. He is totally spoiled and all his needs are definitely met with love, varied nutritious food, quiet, etc. He seems happy and when he sand bathes or 'bathes' in his pine shavings he lays on his side and sort of rolls around while he is puffing up and such. Could this cause the loss of feathers? They look rough around the edges but I think that is why, it's just the losing them I wonder about. Also, I have no idea how old he is, maybe he is getting old and losing them? Any thoughts?
