You can experiment with different fruits and veggies - they often like broccoli and green leafy vegetables like spinach. But never ever feed them avocado, it's toxic to them.

If they're becoming skittish and don't like to be picked up, it's not likely that forcing them to be held will help, it's more likely to make them want to avoid you. Bribery works best, getting them to trust you by getting them to eat treats out of your hand.
