Sorry to hear about your little male quail, so unfortunate. Others on the board may have a better answer but I wonder if what you are seeing is aggressive behaviour? I've seen this type of behaviour in Bobwhite Quails when they are protecting their nest. Can anyone else on the board offer Deborah their thoughts too? Is the female still behaving like this now that the male is gone?
