As Holly said, the incubation time can be longer than the usual 16-17 days. And as Patrick said, a hen usually lays one egg a day, and will wait until she has about 7-8 eggs before she starts rolling them in a pile for sitting. Some hens never sit! Some hens will start sitting, and then give it up. And then, of course, some sit the duration and hatch some cute babies. Don't give up; give them time. You want to be there anyway, when it happens!!!
