Hi Chris,

I hope you have read the posts that Don indicated. We had two chicks this happened to; one died (before we knew what to do), and the other is almost fully mature now, after we performed this procedure on her numerous times.

It is my opinion that this happened because the food wasn't ground finely enough. I read somewhere that one of the causes of a ruptured air sac is the chick ingesting food that is too large. This could be the only possibility in our case, as I noticed some large pieces in their food bowl. Check to see if your food is very finely ground.

Hope they pull through! It took Pacho Jr. about four days to recover from this. Good luck!
