I do really trust the parakeet. I have had her for years and she "parents" all the other birds. Two button quail, two bourkes parakeets, and three zebra finches. We even think she throws out the finch eggs after they keep them past possibility of hatching.
I have heard that a hooked bill bird can't feed a flat billed bird. However, My rosy bourkes feeds the male button. Does it differ from adult to chick?
I will take your advice and seperate them once it is hatched. Should I wait a few days after hatching? Do baby birds get their immune systems from thier parents in the way mammals do?
How can I tell if the egg is fertile with normal things I have arround the house?
Can the quail fertalize the egg after it has been laid if I put it back?
thanks for the advice!
