Subject: Why are BQ so vicious?

So I've spent the last couple days sorting out some issues with my buttons. I had two females incubating in my aviary, and one clutch hatched over the weekend. I went downstairs on friday night to find 6 babies pecked to death around the aviary floor. The other clutch hatched today and luckily I was able to get the mother and five babies out into a separate cage, but it just made me wonder why they are so violent. I know that they're highly territorial but it just seems so pointless to murder every single chick. It's just so sad to see the little guys killed when they're so defenseless. Very frustrating...
