I'm sure nobody has an answer. Nature is cruel sometimes and I think if we understood everything that's going on in our world we'd not need any religions...

Don't be mad at your buttons, they are not reasoning like you and I do. They're just reacting out of instinct. In the wild button quail live in pairs, not in trios or groups. They are not like chickens...

You did the right thing separating them. I hope Mommy and babies are doing well!
