Hi Ursula,

I've never tried liquid calcium, but I've heard that Calciform is a good brand. Also you may want to try adding some ground eggshell to the grit & oystershell. Some people just zap chicken eggshells in the microwave for 20 seconds or so & then grind them up, but I recently read somewhere that this can make your microwave go bang! The article suggested just baking them in the oven for a while instead until they are a little more brittle then either crushing them with a rolling pin or grinding them into tiny pieces in a pestle & mortar. I also hard boil a few chicken eggs, then when they have cooled I put them in a food blender with the shells still on, with a grater type fitting so that egg & shell are in quail sized bites & just put them in a bowl in the aviary & let them get stuck in. The finches love it too. One more thing you could try is grinding up a cuttlebone (The crumbly part, not the hard shell) & sprinkling that on their food for extra calcium. Hope this helps.
