Again each quail is individual. If you work with him and try handfeeding him his favorite foods (mealworms in most cases), he may warm up quicker. Sometimes it does take a while before you may gain their trust. BQ's are quite jittery and nontrusting so when you do break threw that barrier, it can be quite rewarding. I've found that when a quail is alone, they may tolerate more human interaction than housed with a mate. Good luck!
