Hi Diane,
Your female quail sounds very much like mine...hehe : ) At night when Im watching TV I would pick her up and she would be content sitting on my hand and dozing off here and there. She really likes it when I scratch her neck and pet her head...but again during the time she is not laying eggs she would less likely want to be held.
As far as putting her with the adult male, I am actually thinking of getting another female quail and perhaps I would put them together instead. I had suspected that she might become less tame once I put her with the male, that is why Ive been trying to tame the male right now. I wish I could have a tame male and female living together and both not be afraid of me...
