I once found a button chick stuck in it's egg 2 days later when I went to clean out the incubator. All the eggs were zipped so I figured they'd all hatched but when I picked that one up it felt heavy. I broke the end off and tipped out a live button chick. He didn't survive though. He spent so long crammed in his egg his neck and legs wouldn't straighten. I also have heard of people throwing away chicken eggs several days after a hatch and then hearing peeping from the trash can. It is possible.
