Garrie Landry's site is an excellent resource. But no, all colors are fine.

I have always heard to not use cedar bedding (due to it's strong odor). We've always used pine bedding.

Buttons do need grit. Grit can come in a variety of forms, but basically, it's just calcium. The grit we get at the pet store is essentially crushed up oyster shells. But you can also hard-boil an egg and chop it up very finely (shell and all) and then give that to them. They love it.

Tips? Well, not off the top of my head, but if you have any questions along the way, we're here on the board! ;-)
