We use basically parakeet or cockatiel cages that are not very tall and the floor wire has been removed. Wire floors are not good for buttons. to the bottom of the cage we add pine shavings and I give them a little something to hide in. I would use aquariums because there isn't alot of circulation. To me wire cages are best,jmo. I hope this helps alittle.
