Subject: Button Quail fight !

If someone can pls. update us on the button quail fight. We got a pair of button quils and we were told by the previous owners that both are male. They went along with each other no issue for almost 4 months.

Now since now a couple of weeks one of the bird has started loosing feathers on his head, as the other bird hits him. Whenever he hits, I try to separate them and put him in a separate cage most of the time. They sit together by touching each other mostly at night and during day as well. If I separate them then they can miss each other too. They make a noise as well when get separated. I feel bad for them. Is there is any solution to that. Should I separate them for a couple of days. I can do separate them in such a way that both cages lie side by side, so that they can at least see each other. Any suggestions !! Much appreciated !
