Subject: quail egg hatching

i have had button quail eggs since 5/12/13. i let her try and naturally incubate the eggs until 6/4/13. i then bought an incubator and put the eggs in. i read online that if the eggs float they are bad and if they do not dance/ wiggle in water they are dead. since i was way past the due date i was going to start cracking the eggs open to see why they did not hatch. When low and behold i had a live one that only lasted alive for a few minutes. now i left the other six eggs alone. i thought greater than twenty five days they are no good. can anyone help me
