If you are looking to breed, 1 male can't cover 4-5 females with any decent fertility rate. I keep mine in groups and keep one male to every 2 females. So if I have 3 males I have 6 females. I agree with Ashley on having lot's of hiding places. We keep groups in each pen, but we make sure they are 4-6 ft long and 2-3 ft deep pens. We put interesting pieces of old tree roots all over for lots of hiding spots and plants. It breaks up squabbles like "out of sight out of mind."
