Subject: Babies are here

I had a weak moment 2 1/2 weeks ago and allowed one of my hens to nest. I haven't wanted to allow them to nest because I totally ran out of room. I can't bare to part with any of my babies. My hen hatched all her eggs last Saturday. Six were dark and one light colored and what I believed may have turned out to be a silver like her dad. The lighter one died within a couple of days, however, the six are strong eating and drinking regularly.

I had to report because this has never happened to me before. The dad is brooding them like the mom. He is as attentive as the mother and in some cases, he is making a better mom than the hen. So cute to see them all huttled up under his wings of both mom and dad.
