I have found that crickets make a better "taming treat" than mealworms. What I do is I grab a small cricket (usually about 9 cents each from the pet store) around the waist with a pair of tweezers. The cricket will wiggle around a bit and attract the quail. Let them peck at and steal parts of the cricket (they rip easily). I give about 2 crickets per day per hen, as usually the male will take his crickets and give them to the hen. If you are trying to tame the bird, try seperating it. After a while put the cricket in your hand and reach it out to the bird. It usually take me about a week to get the bird to this point. after a while, feed the bird from 1 hand and creep the other hand up slowly. dont pet it or anything just rest your hand on the cage floor. after a day or 2, of your hand being next to the bird without it being scarred, raise the food holding hand up so the bird will have to step on your other hand to get the food. slowly work your way up to being able to scratch the birds back and belly, then try doing this outside of the cage.

if you have any questions, e-mail me

Natasha
