Hi Ursula,

It's Rhonda, Thomas' mom. I'll let him answer most of your questions, but I don't believe he'll ever be a scientist. When he was a little tyke, I thought he might grow up to be a vet, since he loved animals so much, especially horses. But as he has gotten older, it is very apparent that he is artistically-inclined. He plays several instruments, has written some piano compositions, draws beautifully, and loves to write stories. He has combined these talents to produce his own evolving story/music/pictures in a Lord of the Rings type drama. I think he would love to make a movie of it some day.

The first batch of three eggs for the science project did not hatch. They were the last eggs laid by Nutmeg, the heg of our Darth Vader couple. Nutmeg has a splayed leg, and we're thinking she might not live much longer. She's two, and getting around seems to take such effort for her. Then her heart beats so hard. We're disappointed that the eggs didn't hatch, simply because Thomas wanted one of Nutmeg's chicks. The water in the incubator evaporated and wasn't refilled; we're guessing that's why the eggs didn't hatch. I suppose there is no way to get a hen to start laying again, after she has stopped.

Thanks for your interest. When Thomas comes home from school, I'll tell him he has a message on the board.
