Hi Kelly!

They can all eat out of the same dish. Don't worry about too much protein. Also, you can always continue to give them chick starter. It's good for them so let it be.

Also, when you mention that the parents are carrying the chicks around, are they being dragged? Do they look alarmed? I've never heard of this nor do I think it's normal. Birds are not like dogs / cats etc. where the mother moves the babies around.

Sounds like the chicks are being harrassed and if so, move them out of there ASAP.
