Subject: Dead Female

Hi My name is Diana,
I had 3 button quails for almost a year. 2 females and 1 male. yesterday I found one of my females dead. She was off and on picked on by the male. He would pick her feathers off but not the other female . So, I would seperate her until her feathers came back and then I would put them back togeter and every thing would be fine with them. I am assuming my male killed her because when I found her she had alot of feathers missing. Why would he do this? My two females always got along so I know my other female didn't do it. I am also keeping my pet rooster in the same room but seperate cages. could he have caused the male to react. Any ideas would appreciated. Thank, Diane
