Subject: Nutmeg laid an egg!?

This morning when I went to check on the birds, I saw that Nutmeg, our 'sick' bird, laid an egg! I am so confused! She was dying just a month ago, and now she is already laying eggs again? Her scabs have gotten bigger, but I am not convinced that they are scabs anymore. I did a little experiment and clipped the edges of it off, and it was like crumbly like dried earwax or something like that, but definitely not 'scabs.' My mom did some research and it said when they have build up in their nose or ears, it is a sign of a fatal illness or something like that. I can't remember exactly... but instead of getting worse, she is practically normal again. She has all her feathers back, and she is really REALLY fat. Button Quail are SO confusing.
