Around where I live we can't get gamebird "crumble" (the people at the feed store looked at me like I was from another planet when I asked for it!), but my breeder feeds the birds turkey grower mixed with budgie food for the added seeds. The turkey grower is 20 or 22% protein (I cant quite remember which). Its in pellet form so I am crushing them up to "button sized" pieces. And my birds only eat half of what is in the budgie food, so Im throwing stuff out, and I'm not so sure that is the best thing to be feeding them in the first place?

If any of you could give me a link to gamebird crumble that you use, I'd be willing to order it online. i just always like to find things locally to save on shipping/exchange rate/and duties when it comes over the border! lol

I also feed them mealworms and I've tried tomatoes and cucumbers. Im not entirely sure what other veggies/fruits are safe for them, so any input would be appreciated! They didnt seem to fond of the hardboiled egg either.... they walked through it more than they ate it!

As for calcium i give them a little crushed oyster shell mixed in with their food and/or grit. oh, and I also give them spray millet.

I was looking at that Harrison's food for the protein content as well as how large the actual pieces of food were. (if i can avoid having to smash up their food that would be awesome! lol) the lady who was helping me out on the phone talked to an exotics vet which recommended the regular course grind adult food. Well the prot content is only 15% and the size is for macaw sized birds! So I didnt think that was the best choice out of all the Harrisons food options.

And as I find with my chinchillas, even though they are a vet they dont know everything about every animal which is why i like to rely on forums b/c you guys actually HAVE these birds and have better experience with them!

I was thinking of trying the high potency mash (or the fine ground if you think the mash is too fine), but I would for sure order some food online if you guys recommend something better.

thanks for all your help! :)
