My George is an only child and he seems happy enough. He was the only hatchling to survive from his clutch of eggs, and he's never been with other buttons.

He does crow occasionally, mainly when he hears a noise that I assume he thinks is another bird. (He'll crow every time my son turns on his cell phone, for example, because it makes a jingly sound as it comes on.) But he doesn't crow at night, and rarely through the day without some sort of stimulus.
