Subject: Dirty feathers?

Is there a way to clean up the feathers a bit or is it better to just wait till they moult and are replaced?

Now that Bob's getting braver (quite a lot - he's getting curious if I leave my hand in now), I've been able to get a really good look at the state of him. Still a fair bit of feather regrowth to go - he's not got that lovely rounded, filled out button shape yet, he just looks scrawny and scruffy. He needs to put a little weight on too I think, but he's eating nicely so that should just be a matter of time.

But one thing I have noticed is the discolouration on his feathers. He's pied - grey top half and white wings - but the white bits are more of a dusty colour. As his bib is nice and white I'm pretty sure they are just discoloured.

Is there anything I can do or is it a waiting game like everything else? He has a sand bath but he just doesn't use it. Would giving him a water bath to use when he wants help (assuming he wants to of course)?
