Subject: Wow! Sorry! Delayed reaction!!

Hey! I'm really sorry I wasn't around to reply to anyone’s posts or to explain myself more clearly. As you may have read before, my dog got his leg amputated on Sunday and things have been crazy. He is doing very well considering, but is having pain issues and I have been up all night with him. (...sleep deprivation...whoohoo...) It is the saddest thing I have ever seen. He yelps when we try to help him up, and it will be a while before he will be able to get around on his own, his balance isn’t the greatest right now because of the pain killers he’s on. He’s slipping on the floor- we have mostly hardwood flooring in our house- so I scared that he will slip and fall, he has already twice. Someone is with him all the time, we never leave him alone because he has so much trouble getting up and I’m worried he’ll hurt himself trying to stand. He’s got bad bruising from the surgery on his stomach and they shaved half the hair off his rear-end, he looks so sad. I hope we can all get some sleep once his pain meds kick in. Once he’s up and feeling well though, like I have seen him a few times since the surgery, he makes an excellent three-legger. You can barely tell he's walking on three legs, his gait is so smooth. My dad calls him our Seven Thousand Dollar Tripod.
Anyhow, Sinbad- I know what you mean, but as was said, under the circumstances it was necessary. I think we ALL know Thomas and Rhonda would never do anything to put and animals through pain or discomfort unless it was absolutely necessary. I know you know this- you were just thinking of the little birdy because you are such a good quail daddy :)
Thomas and Rhonda- You guys are so great for doing all that you have for this little guy- he is in the best of hands. I am so glad he’s doing well and I will be thinking of him and wishing you all the best of continued luck. He sure is a strong little guy!!

Take care everyone!
Tess
