I'm pretty much a geek. I've read all the books, even some of the lesser known ones -- the Silmarillion, Lays of Beleriand, etc. I think I liked The Return of the King best of the trilogy books. I liked the Hobbit, of course, for lighter reading. But I really love the Silmarillion, which is very lyrically written, almost like the Psalms of the Bible. What a beautiful creation story. The movies, I feel, were fantastically done.
