Subject: Surprise chicks-- a few questions

Hi all,

One of my four adult buttons has always been broody-- to a point. She'd usually sit on a nest for a week or so, then get bored and abandon it-- you know, typical button fickleness. To my surprise, she actually finished the job this time, and I found two adorable peeping fuzzballs in my aviary last night. Mom seemed to have no clue what to do with them, and they were getting trampled by the scared adults, so I took them out and put them in a brooder (following Michelle's guidelines for the setup), where they have been happily eating, trotting around, basking in the heat and practicing crowing.

Having never raised chicks before, I'm curious whether it's easier to tame a button when you raise it from birth. If so, what can I do to encourage these two little birds to be comfortable with me? They're too tiny for worm-bribes, of course! Is it best just to keep letting them get into my hand when I come in? Should I separate them at some point?
