First of all, welcome to the board!! I always move my Mom who sits. The only way I have been able to get mine to sit is to totally leave her alone when she is sitting. This means I don't even clean the cage. Gross I know, but it works for me. I always make sure I clean it right before she sits and we do pick out some of the stuff, just not a thorough cleaning like normal. So as soon as the chicks are born, I move them all to a new clean cage. She always still takes care of them. Your hens may be more apt to take care of them in a small cage rather than an aviary. In a smaller cage that would be the only thing to do. An aviary would be more distracting from her babysitting. Good luck and let us know how she does!!
