Never have problems with moving a hen with chicks - she will not abandon them.

Problems arise when they are disturbed before all chicks have hatched.

As mentioned earlier in this post warmth is essential for the first couple of weeks. If chicks are not warmed by the hen constantly, they will perish very rapidly.
