Subject: OMG I have Button Quail!

So, these friends of mine that live on a farm stopped by to visit and brought me a post-surgery get well present... 5 baby BQ's. OMG. They also brought gamebird food, a feeder dish, waterer & small aquarium - though I will have to get a new one soon.

Holy cow!!

They know I'm an animal lover & thought I'd enjoy these little guys, and I do, but... now I'm scrambling for information about them! They are about 10 days old & adorable as heck.

Question 1.
One is particularly small compared to the others - should i worry about him if he's eating & drinking & scurrying around like the others & they don't seem to be picking on him?

Question 2.
One of them is blonde - what gives?

Question 3.
Ok, so once I figure out who the boys are, will I need to separate them?

I have them in the bedroom & they are hilarious. It's storming out right now (middle of the night) & the poor things are peeping away. I gave them an overturned margarine tub with a hole cut out as a hide box & when they all cram in there, all I see are little feathery butts.

I'll be shopping for a much bigger cage this weekend.

Question 4. Is a big aquarium ok or should I try a birdcage? They just seem really really small for a bird cage - a long aquarium would give them more floorspace, I think...
