They don't make a lot of noise like a parrot, but they can be noisy if they live by themselves (hint: get a male and female or two females) esp. in the middle of the night, they crow, looking for other buttons. Often they'll crow in the early morning (think mini rooster) so be prepared for that, but otherwose, they don't screech incessantly like a macaw, and they're much quieter even when they do make noise.
