Subject: lone quail

We adopted 2 lovely chicks and after about 6 weeks one died of a broken/splayed leg. We adopted another one which was about 1 month old (first one was 2 months old) and they seemed to get along ok. The young one would try to snuggle underneath the older one - it was very cute. But this morning I heard the older one calling out and I looked and discovered the little chick was dead. I have no idea what happened. My question... should I try to get another (adoption place is over an hour away from here) or can this little button live happily alone?
