So sorry for your loss, Natasha. It's always hard to lose one, especially one that has required a lot of care. From what you have described, it sounds as if the problem were genetic. If so, there was no way to prevent it. The little chick probably had other problems besides the leg from its inception. You mention that you have 22 healthy chicks. I would say that you have done a wonderful job bringing those babies into the world and taking care of them!
