You won't stress her out too much if you just examine her toe. She may have something wrapped around it that may be cutting off her circulation. Look to see if she is walking alright at this time. Also, if she is in a cage with another bird, she may be picked on. If there is a sore, I've found that other birds may pick at the sore spot. If that is the case, you may need to isolate her.
