Hi Kalina,
So sorry about your loss. We can all relate to your heartbreak, certainly have been there. In addition to all the great info here, you may want to put a little mirror in the cage so the little one can see himself and feel less lonely. You may have a tame little quail there, keep him nice and warm (like Rhonda mentioned, the cage would work if it is mostly wrapped to help hold the warmth in, and the bars are not too far apart to allow his little head through). Sometimes a little feather duster works well for chicks to snuggle in...I'd place this close but a safe enough distance from the heat source...they snuggle and feel warm & secure like they were being brooder by Mum!
