We've hatched eggs in the incubator and some have hatched and some didn't. The ones that did not hatch, we cracked open after so long. Some were runny and yellow.
Some had a hardened yolk. Some had developed birds in them. So you just never know. Just because a hen has a partner, doesn't mean all her eggs are fertile. Some eggs also may have a hairline crack in them that will keep the eggs from maturing.
