Most of the time, you cannot tell. Although, my Darth Vader Female will only lay green eggs. My Red-breasted Silver females lay a red brown and occasionally green or blue (very rare, only twice... they are very very pretty!) and when I had a white bird hers were usually a very pinky-brown. I really don't know if it actually has something to do with the bird or their diet, but it is a very interesting question.
